There are deals to be had at these stores that meet or beat the online giant's prices

10 Retailers That Will Match Amazon Prime’s Prices

How often are you going about your day when you realize, Hey, we’re about to run out of [insert household necessity here]. I’ll order it on Amazon. If you’re like me, this happens multiple times a week, and it includes more than just household stuff. Maybe it’s a new white T-shirt you keep meaning to pick up or cleats for your kid’s soccer season. Amazon is ingrained in our minds with its quick and easy delivery solution for ev-er-y-thing.
But maybe you need the item right away and it isn’t available for same-day shipping. Or you don’t want to pay that hefty $139 a year for those Amazon Prime benefits. Or you’re simply taking a break from Amazon.
Whatever your reason for skipping the ‘zon, knowing which retailers will price-match the online giant will help you get great deals, wherever you shop.

Which retailers match Amazon Prime’s prices?
Amazon uses a dynamic pricing strategy, which means it can lower its prices on items at the drop of a hat if it sees a competing retailer offering a hot deal. But you can also use this strategy for your own benefit, by requesting a lower price at a brick-and-mortar store from any of these retailers who will price-match Amazon Prime.
Unless otherwise noted below, in order to take advantage of the price match, the product has to be identical and in stock at the brick-and-mortar store and not sold by a third-party vendor on Amazon. You’ll also need to be prepared to show a customer service rep or cashier the price on Amazon on your phone or print the page with the date listed.
Academy Sports
It’s right there in the name, but Academy Sports sells—you guessed it—sporting equipment. But it also sells activewear for both kids and adults, drinkware (hey, Stanley!) and camping necessities, among other things. Just note that it doesn’t sell or ship to Alaska, California or Hawaii. However, if you do live in a state where Academy Sports exists, it won’t just price-match Amazon—it will beat that price by 5%.
Ashley Furniture
Amazon sells a ton of furniture, and quite a bit of it can also be found at Ashley Furniture (just not the really weird stuff Amazon sells). Fortunately, Ashley is willing to price-match Amazon as long as the product is sold and fulfilled by Amazon, not a third-party seller. (This is true for all of the price-matching retailers on this list.)
What’s important to note here is that Ashley Furniture will not match “discounts applied at checkout.” That means if there’s a little coupon box to check off on Amazon in order to get the deal, it won’t qualify for a price match. It needs to be the advertised price. Bonus: If you have any issues during this process, Ashley says it will send a promo code for 10% off your next purchase.
Bed Bath & Beyond
Much like its brick-and-mortar stores of yesteryear, the digital version of Bed Bath & Beyond really does sell a little bit of everything. Furniture, linens, small appliances, cabinetry—even pet supplies. And, yes, it will price-match Amazon.
Dick’s Sporting Goods
For sporty and/or outdoorsy folks, Dick’s Sporting Goods sells everything you can possibly imagine to stay active. And it will price-match Amazon, assuming it sells the identical product. Keep in mind there are some exclusions, like markdowns during special flash sales (take Amazon’s lightning deals, for example—those don’t count). You must show an associate a live product page with the price, as Dick’s Sporting Goods won’t accept screenshots or photos.
Home Depot
Home Depot sells the obvious power tools and building materials, but it also sells appliances, cleaning supplies, decor, holiday decorations and more. Plus, it price-matches Amazon, which is why it’s on this list, of course!
JCPenney
Known mostly for selling clothing, jewelry, and home goods like linens and small appliances, JCPenney also has a well-stocked beauty department. And unlike many competing department stores, they price-match.
Lowe’s
There’s a ton of almost perfectly rated Amazon products, and it’s likely at least some of them are available at Lowe’s, the hardware superstore known for tools, appliances, building materials, decor and more. Some exclusions do apply—they won’t price-match things like open-box prices, rebates or free offers.
Nordstrom
While the retailer is mostly known for its high-end fashions, Nordstrom also sells beauty products, home goods, jewelry, accessories and luggage. They also have one of the best return policies around (though there are simple ways to get a refund on almost anything) and will price-match Amazon.
Staples
Listen up: Staples is not just for printer ink and basic office furniture. They also have travel necessities, organization kits, cleaning supplies, electronics and even snacks.
Target
The only place I probably shop more than Amazon is Target. And Target, which sells everything from clothes to electronics to toys to books to food, will price-match Amazon. Price matches have to be requested at time of purchase or within 14 days after purchase.
How do you request a price match?
Follow these steps to get a price match at the brick-and-mortar stores listed above:
- Make sure the product is eligible for a price match.
- Bring in valid proof of the lower price on Amazon.
- Present it to an associate at your local store.
Now that you know brands that price-match Amazon, you can shop in person while still enjoying the online retailer’s low prices. Happy shopping!
